On phones and other devices with restricted width (less than 1000px) the horizontal menu system becomes unwieldy and is not available. A vertical version becomes visible when the top logo (The Ducks) is either touched or hovered over with the mouse. The menu then behaves in a similar manner to the normal horizontal setup.
Sometimes due to circumstances with specific devices the standard menu system is not very convenient. In this case it is better to use the Site Map which enables any of the menu(ed) pages to be selected in one large list which is easy to scan on phones or tablets.
