A lot more Photographs

( But not necessarily the right ones !!)

I have added a lot of material to the pages titled "Find your way around". These now include descriptions and pictures (new and old) to give an feel for the character and history of the various areas of Doxey.

The areas are (click to view) :

  • Western - Doxey Fields

  • Northern - around Greensome Lane

  • West Centre - Conway Road, Doxey (W), Mallard Walk

  • East Centre - Manor Park, Doxey (E), The Drive, Castle View

  • Eastern - 'Universal' , Virginia Park
  • However I am limited in the photos that I have available, and I am conscious that the standard of quite a lot of them is quite low. You may well agree; therefore I am asking you to dig out those photographs that you have (or you can take them specially) and share them with this site.

I will be at the Reunion next Sunday (Oct 20th) and I can scan any originals and let you have them back immediately.

Any help will be very gratefully received - Thanks !

Suggestions and corrections will always be (gratefully ?) received.

A Doxey Silver Wedding - 119 years ago

Some time ago David Hughes - Chairman of Doxey Parish Council - passed on the above card to the website. West Bank which was built in the late 19th Century is now the Doxey Universal Sports and Social Club. We have researched the Wilson Family that lived there from about 1890 to 1916(?) before retiring to build an ultra-modern concrete garage in Westmoreland.
